Costa Rica Fishing - Silver King Lodge

Whether you are fishing from the sea, or rivers, Hooked On Adventures is ready to help you "Land the Big Ones"! Wahoo, Sailfish, Dolphin, Marlin and Tuna are located offshore from the fishing lodge and are out there waiting just for you.

The Lodge is located in "Barra del Colorado", which is approximately 140 miles from San Jose in the extreme Northeastern Caribbean Coast and is the second largest rainforest preserve in Central America.

The official and predominant language of Costa Rica is Spanish; the variety spoken there, Costa Rican Spanish, is a form of Central American Spanish. In addition, several Chibchan languages, including Boruca and Bribri, are spoken there.

Costa Rica Landscape

The landscape is comprised of tropical forest, fluvial islands, channels and swamp lands. With its many rivers, creeks and lagoons, this is a fantastic place to fish, and is among the best sport fishing destinations in the world. Snook, Snapper, Mackerel and Tarpon are main sport fish caught around here.

About the Trip

Costa Rica Tarpon

Costa Rica is home to the some of the largest Tarpon (Megalops Atlanticus) in the world and are the "Silver Kings" of our coastal waters and can grow beyond 6 feet in length and can weigh as much as 350 lbs.! The World Record Tarpon caught, using hook and line, is 281 lbs.!

When Tarpon are hooked, and in an attempt to get away, it is known for its spectacular leaps and when afraid, this fish produces sound in the form of “thumps” using its swim bladder.

Make your way through Tarpon fights, and learn the best tackle and lures for both conventional and fly fishing. Experience Giant Snook fishing and scouring the jungle’s tropical Rainforest for tackle-busting Guapote and many other species that are locally known as Pan fish.

Eco Tours Costa Rica

We can arrange for a personal Eco-Tour with one of our many knowledgeable local guides.

If you're interested in ECOTOURISM, the best time to visit is from February to April when the weather is dry.  During this time, you could spot toucans, caimans, monkeys, frogs, crocodiles, sloths, macaws, jacanas, falcons and a variety of other animals, birds and reptiles amid the lush topical trees found here. With its many rivers, creeks and lagoons, this area of Costa Rica is also a fantastic place to fish, and is among the best sport fishing destinations in the world. Snook, Snapper, Mackerel and Tarpon are the main sport fish caught around here. However, found in the waters of the Rio San Juan, are Bull Sharks that have migrated upriver from the Atlantic Ocean.   Please ask one of our Guides for a personal Eco-Tour.
